![]() ![]() Each year, we work closely with Pleasant Valley’s PTA to coordinate a book fair, Birthday Book program, and the very popular Read-A-Thon. New and popular books are given prime locations on the shelves for easy access. Students can be found listening to a read aloud on our story steps or browsing through our shelves to find a large variety of high-interest fiction and nonfiction selections in a wide range of reading levels. All students come to the library each week for 30 minute lessons on information and media literacy, and can check books out at that time. Students and staff are welcome into the library at any time throughout the day to find a great book to read, help with research for a project, or just a quiet place to work. Welcome to the Pleasant Valley Library, where we serve almost 500 students in grades K-3. After two successful book fairs and an online fundraiser, we look forward to providing Bower Hill students with brand new materials and learning adventures in the fall of 2022. ![]() A recent addition for our youngest readers is the “Book Nook”, a section of the library that contains picture books organized in bins by favorite series, character and topic, as voted on by our Kindergarten and first grade students. In the spring of 2022, we premiered a reorganized biography section where students can browse for biographies within front-facing categories, including scientists, artists, and athletes. New this school year is a genrefied fiction section, where students can search for chapter books shelved within specific genres. Our library features several new book display areas, story steps for class read alouds, a large library classroom space, multiple seating areas to enjoy books and magazines, and many new materials locations and special features within our collection. Each week, students come to the library for a 30 minute information literacy lesson and book check out. ![]() Bower Hill library serves 690 students in grades K-3. ![]()
